Whether you are picking up a guitar for the first time or working towards an ABRSM grade exam, I offer one-to-one guitar lessons tailored to your level, your goals, and your pace.
I teach from my home studio in Southgate and also travel to students across North London for home visits. Lessons are available for children from the age of five and for adults at any stage.
What I Teach
Guitar lessons cover everything from the basics — posture, hand position, how to read music — through to more advanced technique, music theory, and performance skills. I work with students across a wide range of styles, including classical and contemporary repertoire.
Whether your goal is to play songs you love, work towards a grade exam, or simply understand the instrument better, lessons are built around what matters to you.
ABRSM Guitar Exam Preparation
I prepare students for ABRSM grade exams from Grade 1 through to the higher grades. Each exam has four components: pieces, scales and arpeggios, sight-reading, and aural tests. I build a structured preparation plan from the very first lesson so students know exactly what they are working towards — and arrive at exam day confident and ready.
Guitar Lessons for Children
I work with young beginners from the age of five. Lessons for younger children are kept short, engaging, and age-appropriate — building technique and musicianship gradually without overwhelming them.
For children working towards ABRSM grades, I communicate regularly with parents about progress, what to focus on at home, and when a student is ready to sit an exam.
Guitar Lessons for Adults
Many of my adult students are picking up the guitar for the first time — others are returning after a long break. Both are a perfectly good place to start. Adult learners tend to progress quickly once the right habits are in place, and I adapt lessons to fit around busy schedules.
Home Visits Across North London
If travelling to a studio is not practical, I come to you. I offer home visits across a wide area of North London — including Southgate, Enfield, Barnet, Finchley, Muswell Hill, Wood Green, and many surrounding areas.
About Your Teacher
My name is Saygın. I graduated from Ege University State Conservatoire in Turkey, where I studied piano and clarinet, and completed a pedagogical formation programme at the same university — giving me both the musical training and the formal teaching skills to work with students of all ages and backgrounds.
Over a 20-year career, I have taught, performed and published. Before moving to London, I performed regularly on national television and major radio stations, and worked as a studio musician on album, commercial and film recordings. In 2019, I published Klarnet Eğitimi — a comprehensive clarinet method book.
In 2020, I moved to London and established North London Music Lessons. My youngest students are five years old — and I also teach working adults who are picking up an instrument for the first time.
