Piano is one of the most rewarding instruments to learn — and one of the most versatile. Whether you are a complete beginner, a parent looking for lessons for your child, or an adult returning to the piano after years away, I offer one-to-one lessons tailored to your level and your goals.
I teach from my home studio in Southgate and travel to students across North London for home visits.
What I Teach
Piano lessons cover technique, musicality, music reading, and — where relevant — music theory. I work with students from the very beginning, building a solid foundation in posture, hand position, and tone production before moving into more complex repertoire.
Lessons are adapted to each student. Some students work through graded ABRSM repertoire. Others focus on pieces they love, styles they want to explore, or simply the joy of playing.
ABRSM Piano Exam Preparation
I prepare students for ABRSM piano grade exams from Grade 1 through to the higher grades. The exam covers three pieces, scales and arpeggios, sight-reading, and aural tests. I build a clear preparation plan from the start so students develop every component systematically — not just the pieces.
For students aiming for Grade 6 and above, I also support music theory preparation, which is a requirement for the higher ABRSM performance grades.
Piano Lessons for Children
Piano is an excellent first instrument for young children. The keyboard layout makes musical concepts visually clear, and children can produce a satisfying sound from the very first lesson without complex physical technique.
I work with children from the age of five. Lessons for younger students are structured to hold attention, build confidence, and develop genuine musicianship — not just the ability to play notes in the right order.
Piano Lessons for Adults
It is never too late to learn the piano. Adult beginners often progress faster than they expect — particularly when lessons are focused, consistent, and built around music they actually want to play.
I work with adult learners at all levels, from those who have never played before to those returning to the piano after a long gap.
Home Visits Across North London
I offer home visits to students across North London, including Southgate, Palmers Green, Enfield, Barnet, Finchley, Muswell Hill, Wood Green, and many surrounding areas. If you have a piano at home, I can come to you.
About Your Teacher
My name is Saygın. I graduated from Ege University State Conservatoire in Turkey, where I studied piano and clarinet, and completed a pedagogical formation programme at the same university — giving me both the musical training and the formal teaching skills to work with students of all ages and backgrounds.
Over a 20-year career, I have taught, performed and published. Before moving to London, I performed regularly on national television and major radio stations, and worked as a studio musician on album, commercial and film recordings. In 2019, I published Klarnet Eğitimi — a comprehensive clarinet method book.
In 2020, I moved to London and established North London Music Lessons. My youngest students are five years old — and I also teach working adults who are picking up an instrument for the first time.
